Medicated Faith

“Holy orange bottles, each night, I pray to you” -Taylor Swift: Soon You’ll Get Better

A prayer to my orange bottles:

I spent 4 months to get you

Endless rounds of blood work- turning up nothing

“Goodbye blood”

Go off and finally tell doctors what is wrong with me

Vitamin D to give my body artificial sun. A capsule of sunshine

Prednisone to make me want to kill myself. A capsule of turmoil

Zoloft to fight crippling emotions. A capsule that seems to keep me from the edge

One more to come. A capsule to sedate my heart

There are other things to swallow like B12, allergy relief, my pride,

The grief of waking up everyday in pain

Medication is my religion

I dedicate time every morning to it

I’ve placed all my hope for healing in orange bottles
