Introducing BHC’s New Medical Director: Douglas Jones, MD
A note from Tahlia Ruschioni, Executive Director, and Lucinda Bateman, MD, Founder and Chief Medical Officer
Over this past year, we have been doing a great deal of work, quietly, to strengthen Bateman Horne Center from the inside out. That has meant building our clinical leadership and deepening our research partnerships, all while investing in the kind of infrastructure that lets us grow without losing the core of what drives our mission.
Today, we get to share one of the most meaningful parts of that work.
Bateman Horne Center is delighted to welcome Douglas Jones, MD, as our new Medical Director. Dr. Jones is a board-certified allergist and immunologist who has spent more than fifteen years treating patients with complex, often underdiagnosed chronic conditions. His expertise adds significant depth to the clinical leadership shaping BHC’s future.
Dr. Jones’s arrival accelerates work already well underway, expanding our clinical capacity and advancing our research collaborations. That work already carries real momentum, and Dr. Jones strengthens it further by helping us reach more of the people who need this kind of care.
None of this changes who this work is for. The people living with ME/CFS, Long COVID, fibromyalgia, and other complex chronic conditions, and the caregivers and clinicians who walk alongside them, are still the reason this work exists, today and as we grow.
It matters, too, that we do this work the way we always have, as one of very few nonprofits in this field built around three connected pillars: clinical care, research, and education, each one strengthening the other two. It’s what lets our care reach further than any single clinic visit. Growth built on all three means more people finding their way into care, more clinicians equipped to recognize and treat these conditions well, and research that steadily narrows the gap between what patients live with and what medicine still doesn’t fully understand.
Dr. Jones is settling into this new role, which includes a careful review of caseloads across our clinical team. As he steps into this role, he’ll also continue caring for a number of patients from his previous practice to maintain continuity of care.
As this next chapter takes shape, we know Dr. Jones is exactly the kind of physician who can help our impact meet our intention. We are thrilled to have him here to help us write what comes next.
