#MillionsMissing 2020

#MillionsMissing is a global campaign for health equality for individuals with ME/CFS that takes place on the annual ME/CFS and FM Awareness Day. As part of the campaign, cities around the world reflect and acknowledge the millions of individuals past and present who battle ME/CFS/FM. The Bateman Horne Center and #MEAction Utah have partnered together for this special event, and invite you to join a one-hour session dedicated to awareness and hope.

Register to join the Zoom event here!

Following this event, the Bateman Horne Center is hosting a 1-hour support group session (1-2 pm, MDT), which is open to the ME/CFS/FM public. Simply stay on the call if you are interested in attending, no alternative registration is required.

Who can join: This event is open to the ME/CFS and FM communities. Regardless of how these debilitating illnesses impact you, we welcome your support and inclusion.

Registration Details: Being a public event, which may generate news media coverage and social media attention, we ask that you only use your initials to register for the event. Your email address will not be distributed for any public use – we need it to send you the connection link.

Note: We are aware of the recent concerns with Zoom hackers. BHC has taken additional measures to ensure the privacy of our participants remains secure; however, as with all virtual settings, we urge you to withhold sharing personal health or contact information during these live events.

Agenda

  • Welcome from BHC
  • Rebecca Cain, #MEAction
  • Voices of the Missing (preselected poems/readings)
  • Share Your Message (*see instructions below)
  • Dr. Bateman, BHC Medical Director
  • Dr. Vernon, BHC Research Director

*Share Your Message of Hope!

As we take a moment to reflect on what this day represents, we also want to generate a community of hope and support. During the event we will take a moment to show our respect for those impacted by these illnesses. We encourage you to participate by:

  • Holding up a message of hope to your camera in one hand, and
  • The shoes you miss wearing in your other hand

Message of Hope#MillionsMissing BHC Staff Photo

Write a short one-sentence message, quote/phrase, or single word on a piece of paper that serves as your message of encouragement, hope, inclusion, inspiration to others on the call (and around the world) who are in this battle with you.

Remembrance & Reflection

Choose a pair of shoes that represents your moment of reflections (ie: hiking boots, work shoes, running shoes etc).

In a time of uncertainty, we can be sure of one thing…we have a moment to connect and support one another as we acknowledge 2020’s Awareness Day.

We hope to see you there!
